Chair Massage
Also called on-site
and seated massage, chair massage includes techniques that provide fully-clothed seated massage to clients, generally in a
corporate, business, or other setting. Individual session times range from 5-20 minutes and typically cost $1 per minute.
The increased cost versus traditional massage in an office setting covers travel and set-up time. Chair massages
can be done at health fairs, wedding receptions, and corporate barbeques, just to mention a few scenarios. It’s
also a great idea to reward your employees on a Friday afternoon, or give them a pick-me-up in the middle of the week.
Depending on your schedule, we can volunteer chair massages at your non-profit event or fundraiser. Proceeds from our
chair massage done at a fundraiser would go to your event.
Swedish/American (Relaxation)
This is a treatment designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation. Five basic strokes, all flowing
toward the heart, are used to manipulate the soft tissues of the body. The disrobed client is covered by a sheet, with
only the area being worked on exposed. A combination of kneading, rolling, vibrational, percussive, and tapping movements
are used, with the application of oil, to reduce friction on the skin. The many benefits of this massage may include generalized
relaxation, dissolution of scar tissue adhesions, and improved circulation, which may speed healing and reduce swelling from
injury.
Hot Stone Massage
Stones of all shapes and sizes and varying
temperatures, ranging from zero to 140 degrees, are used during this massage to elicit physical healing, and mental relaxation.
Warm stones encourage the cleansing of blood and lymph and provide soothing heat for deep tissue work. Stones are placed
in varying positions on the body for energy balancing or may be used for specific trigger-point work.
Deep
Tissue
This technique is administered to affect the sublayer of musculature
and fascia. It requires more advanced training and a thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology. The muscles must be
relaxed in order to effectively perform deep tissue, otherwise tight surface muscles prevent deeper musculature from being
reached. It helps with chronic muscular pain and injury rehabilitation, and reduces inflammation-related pain caused by arthritis
and tendonitis. It does generally cause some discomfort during the process and may cause soreness and tenderness the following
day. It is generally integrated with other massage techniques and is not used exclusively during the session.
Reiki
Reiki is a hands-on energy healing art. It originated in Japan
in the early 20th century by Mikao Usui, who had a life-changing experience of light and energy that he recognized as sacred
life force--and that awakened his innate healing abilities. He developed a system of practices that enabled others to become
effective healers. In a reiki session, the practitioner, trained to access and serve as a channel for the life force (chi),
places her hands on or just above the client’s body in order to activate healing energy within receptive points on the
body. The practitioner’s hands move progressively with a passive touch through positions on the body, remaining in each
position for three to five minutes. As the harmonic flow of energy is strengthened, within the client and practitioner, healing
occurs through the return of physical, mental, and spiritual balance.
Pregnancy
Massage
Special propping techniques or special pillows (our Cozy Cuddler) are used to
allow the pregnant mother to comfortably lay on the table, and a relaxing massage is given to ease discomforts. Very
similar to a swedish/american relaxation massage.
Thai Yoga Massage
Thai Yoga Massage is performed on a mat on the floor or on a lowered table; both client and practitioner are dressed
in comfortable clothing allowing ease of movement and flexibility. No oils or creams are used. The practitioner guides
the recipient through a series of yoga postures while palming and thumbing along the body's energy lines and pressures
points. Together these actions result in a comprehensive full body treatment that relieves muscular tension, improves
circulation, boosts the immune system and balances the body energetically.
